rbenv lets you easily switch between multiple versions of Ruby. It's
simple, unobtrusive, and follows the UNIX tradition of single-purpose
tools that do one thing well.

This package also includes the rbenv-alternatives plugion, which hooks
into the Debian alternatives system and makes the Ruby interpreters
registered with the update-alternatives available for use with rbenv.
