Bug#565308: RFP: mariadb-server -- MariaDB is a community developed branch of, the MySQL, database that uses the Maria engine by default.

Following the announcement by Oracle that there will be new commercial extensions for MySQL, effectively putting MySQL under the Open Core model, should the decision to replace MySQL with MariaDB be revisited?

Would using MariaDB not be more in line with the philosophy behind Debian?
