The port is from the FreeBSD ports tree. See:

It will be GNU/kFreeBSD only, as the porting efforts for Linux have
never gone very far, from what I have seen.

I am not sure about the limitations compared to the native OpenBSD
version. At minimum, my tests have shown that it can be built and run on
Debian GNU/kFreeBSD and that a simple session with a default route works
as intended. I have not gone much further, but I think it is enough to
make it a candidate for inclusion in Debian.
