Hi,

I know it seems a bit contradictory to have a "RoM: orphaned" title on
these bug reports. Please read RoM as "request of former maintainer"
if you like. I am of the opinion that the various CERNLIB packages
are essentially unmaintainable and should be removed from Sid instead
of continuing to be dead weight there. No one has completed the job
of adopting them (though there were a couple people who had some
initial interest, in CC) after more than two years spent orphaned, nor
attempted to fix any bug reports for them for over a year. They were
already purged from Squeeze prior to its release.

Any remaining users really ought to switch to some other software, as
upstream has been completely dead for five years now. (I would
suggest ROOT, but tragically that seems to be no longer maintained
within Debian either, and I wish I had the free time to do something
about that.) I regret that it was not possible for CERNLIB to go into
Squeeze to provide additional time for users to transition away, but
maybe it's for the best.
