As any other non-DDs. You can mail debian-mentors@lists.debian.org
when in need for sponsorship. And "wait months" is an absurd
over-exaggeration.

Consider adopting a package only if you're a DD completely misses the
point of "showing commitment to the project" that's as fundamental
step of NM path.
