FYI, regarding the packaging of F#, there is an fsharp organization on github (https://github.com/fsharp) that is now the Mono project's official source for F#. The https://github.com/fsharp/fsharp project is where the compiler is being maintained, with sources ported directly from the official fsharp codeplex code, plus Mono and linux-specific fixes and autotools-based packaging used to build and package it for Mono.
