Package: wnpp
Severity: wishlist

* Package name    : libnss-myhostname
  Version         : 0.2
  Upstream Author : Lennart Poettering <mzzlubfganzr@0pointer.de>
* URL             : http://0pointer.de/lennart/projects/nss-myhostname/
* License         : LGPLv2.1
  Programming Lang: C
  Description : nss module that resolves the system hostname instead of /etc/hosts

nss-myhostname is a plugin for the GNU Name Service Switch (NSS) functionality
of the GNU C Library (glibc) providing host name resolution for the locally
configured system hostname as returned by gethostname(2). A lot of software
relies on resolving the local host name via DNS to an IPv4 or IPv6 address.
Most systems resolve the system hostname via /etc/hosts, which either
duplicates /etc/hostname or requires dynamically editing /etc/hosts.
nss-myhostname automatically resolves the current system hostname to the IPv4
address 127.0.0.2 (which is on the local loopback) and the IPv6 address ::1.
