 As I don't see any reference to this anywhere or any different version
of it in ubuntu (given that you have an ubuntu mail address) I guess you
never did publish it anywhere?

 So, if both of you are not interested anymore and Iulian's prepared
package is nowhere to find I am willing to do the work (again) and take
over the package, to finalize the issue.

No, I haven't uploaded anything to Ubuntu.  I wanted to update it in Debian 
first and then request a sync with Sid's version.  As I'm not interested in 
mmv anymore, you can go ahead and adopt it.
