Bug#530539: ITP: pslist -- utility that lists, kills, or renices a process and its descendants

Package: wnpp
Severity: wishlist
Owner: Peter Pentchev <roam@ringlet.net>

* Package name    : pslist
  Version         : 1.2
  Upstream Author : Peter Pentchev <roam@ringlet.net>
* URL             : http://devel.ringlet.net/sysutils/pslist/
* License         : BSD-2
  Programming Lang: Perl
  Description : utility that lists, kills, or renices a process and its descendants

 pslist is a simple utility to list the process ID's of a process and all
 its children, and its children's children, and so on. If invoked with
 a command name which ends in 'kill', it sends a signal to a selected group
 of processes. If invoked with a command name which ends in 'renice',
 it sets the nice level of the selected group of processes.

As witnessed by a recent exchange on the Debian Russian mailing list -
http://lists.debian.org/debian-russian/2009/05/msg00571.html -
there is indeed a demand (albeit limited) for such a utility,
so I thought I'd share with the world something I wrote way back
in 2000 and have used ever since :)

G'luck,
Peter
