You're not right; there is some tricks in README file that shows all MakeFile targets available: $ make bogo586 gcc -g -O3 -Wall -c -o bogomips.o bogomips.c gcc -g -O3 -Wall -c -o delay_586.o delay_586.c gcc -g -O3 -Wall bogomips.o delay_586.o -o bogo586 $ ./bogo586 Calibrating delay loop... 2811.49 BogoMIPS $ cat /proc/cpuinfo |grep -i bogo bogomips : 4332.48 bogomips : 4327.62 But because this software is unmaintained since 2005 (files COPYING, README, etc...) it maybe not a good idea to package it.
