First of all, you surely must mean SVN and you should use a version number like 0.0~svn20080302, i.e. YYYYMMDD or else I'd expect an epoch pretty soon :)Description: XBox Media Center Linux Port A media center originally written for the XBox and then ported to linux. I intend to upload this to experimental to start with. The linux port of it is just that. It's also designed for installation to a single directory, not installation on a unix system. I'll need to hack round that first. The version number is a CVS snapshot. I need to improve the long description before uploading.
I've had a look at this and even made it to successfully work on my machine. I reported some issues back to upstream (e.g. incompatibility with libmms 0.4) and told them that I was interested on bringing this to Debian. I also mentioned the FHS issue which is an obvious blocker for Debian inclusion.
I've had only negative comments; they apparently don't care about inclusion in Debian or Ubuntu (which is their platform of preference) and they just want to be able to release a liveCD that works. The FHS proposal was thought to be "too much trouble for little gain" and potentially harming the MacOSX port which is also under development.
I had a look at the code and it's a mess, because of the XDK/Windows heritage, e.g. there are conversions between Windows paths (H:\) and Linux ones (/opt/xbmc).
...and that's why I never filed an ITP and still don't regret that choice. All in all, good luck with that ;-)You should expect some heavy upstream patching and a potentially unfriendly upstream.
But I'd really like to see this packaged. Thanks, Faidon
