Bug#462091: ITP: zerofree -- zero free blocks from ext2/3 filesystems

Package: wnpp
Severity: wishlist
Owner: Thibaut Paumard <paumard@users.sourceforge.net>

* Package name    : zerofree
  Version         : 1.0.1
  Upstream Author : R M Yorston
* URL             : http://intgat.tigress.co.uk/rmy/uml/
* License         : GPL
  Programming Lang: C
  Description : zero free blocks from ext2/3 filesystems

Zerofree finds the unallocated, non-zeroed blocks in an ext2 or ext3 filesystem and fills them by zeroes. This is useful if the device on which this filesystem resides is a disk image. In this case, depending on the type of disk image, a secondary utility may be able to reduce the size of the disk image after zerofree has been run.

Zerofree has been written to be run from GNU/Linux systems installed as guest OSes inside a virtual machine. If this is not yourr case (in particular if you do not understand the previous sentence), you almost certainly don't need this package.

Thibaut.
