The Netlib faq says:
Most netlib software packages have no restrictions on their use but we
recommend you check with the authors to be sure.
* some of the .m files contain copyright statements from Samit Basu and
other people, but no license.
https://ssl.recluse.de/svn/debian/packages/freemat/trunk/ contains the
first bits of packaging, but it's neither complete nor bugfree.
If anybody is willing to work on the package, I'll be happy to sponsor it.
