What is needed is a patch to use something like libmad to replace liblame and perform the mp3 decoding. (work required on 40_libmad.dpatch) Isaac Richards (upstream mythtv) has said that he is against packages which break large portions of functionality (ie just disabling lame). Thus we need to do some work to get libmad to replace the functionality of liblame, then we might be in a position to approach upstream again. Mark
