Description : tiling window manager based on dwm

awesome is a tiling window manager initially based on dwm (Dynamic Window
Manager) code. It's extremely fast, small, dynamic and awesome.

Like in dwm, windows in awesome can be managed in tiled and floating
layouts. Each layout can be applied on the fly, optimizing the
environment for the application in use and the task performed.

With tiled layout, windows are managed in a master and a stacking area.
The master area contains the windows which currently need most attention,
whereas the stacking area contains all other windows.

In floating layout, windows can be resized and moved freely, just like in a
usual window manager. Dialog windows are always managed floating, regardless
of the layout selected.

In contrast to dwm which is configured by editing its source files and
recompiling, every aspect of awesome is configurable via a configuration
file: awesomerc. Awesome also does not impose a strict limit on its SLOC
(Source Lines Of Code) count and therefore is more open for new features
than dwm.
