Indeed. No packages use it anymore, AFAIK

I asked the maintainer about this around a year ago, and he seemed 
unwilling to even rename his (I proposed 'libconfig' -> 'libabz-config' 
), even though only his packages use it.

This "libconfig" is indeed much superior.
I have some (privately-maintained) packages for a year or so already;
