Bug#419924: ITP: glusterfs -- A powerful network/cluster filesystem

Hi Junichi,

you're not the only one... still I have to support Christian.
GlusterFS started (in a few people's brains) about 1 1/2 years ago,
and had its first code checked in about half a year ago. Nevertheless
it looks very promising, despite or because its basic idea:

- the whole system is made of building blocks and operates in user space
- FUSE is the only requirement in the kernel
- the storage "translator" accesses the underlying filesystem
- interconnects supported at the moment are GbE and IB
- number of server and client nodes is fully scalable - you can even
run more than one server on one box (and the client too)

The next release (1.2.3) is due end of April.

www.gluster.org/ has the details.

Cheers,
 Steffen
