Hi debian-devel-games, I've packaged up quackle [1] [2] [3]. Quackle is a QT4-based Scrabble-like crossword game and analysis tool. It includes a computer opponent, move generator, and simulator and may be used with any board layout, alphabet, lexicon, and tile distribution. It's fun, colorful, and beats me every single time. Quackle is under active development, has a fairly lively mailing list [4], is released under the revised BSD license, and would fill a hole in Debian's game offerings. The only other alternative is 'scrabble', which is text-based and may not make it into etch [5]. Source and i386 packages are available here [6]. They are lintian and linda clean. I believe they would be piuparts clean, but it complains about errors in other packages before getting to quackle. I split the architecture-independent formatted wordlists and strategy data into its own package, which now sits at 1.7MB and will likely grow in the future. I am, of course, happy to have any sponsor, but would prefer to put Quackle under team maintenance. My alioth login is 'alec-guest'. This is not my first package; I have maintained rzip for almost two years. I begin more than two weeks of traveling and moving next Friday; please don't be offended if I drop off the face of the earth at that time. Thanks for your time, Alec [1] http://www.quackle.org/ [2] http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=367500 [3] http://www.quackle.org/images/quackle-0.92.png [4] http://games.groups.yahoo.com/group/quackle/ [5] http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=325441 [6] http://www.thened.net/~alec/debian/quackle/0.92-1/
