Wow.  thanks for the speedy response.  i feel pretty stupid.  i
unzipped the diff to make sure it looked reasonable, and i guess i
didn't zip it back up with the right options. I've gone ahead and
uploaded the original diff.gz which has the correct size of 4865
bytes.  The old miscompressed diff.gz is now gone.

it all builds for me with no errors with a straight debuild invocation
now.  i'm working on getting pbuild set up properly for me as well.
