Package: wnpp
Severity: wishlist

* Package         : nnim
  Version : 'Delta'
Upstream Author : Jesse Lovelace <thementat@users.sourceforge.net>

  Description : Instant messaging tool

No-Name Instant Messenger is a secure (strong cryptography), cross
platform communications program that supports existing IM networks (AIM,
Yahoo, ICQ, etc.).
___
The NNIM (pronounced "nim") Project is an effort to create a very
secure, cross-platform chat tool similar to AIM and ICQ. The NNIM
Project began as RSIM (Rask's Secure Instant Messenger) which was a
project by Rask to create an encrypted messaging system. As many
projects go, RSIM was left dormant for about a year.

In October of 2000, mentat, botch, and rask decided to bring RSIM back
to life.

In 2001 (?) Henrik and mentat teamed up and wrote the GNU Messenger
backend system. Henrik's KiT client was based on QT while mentat used WX
for NNIM.

Mentat is currently the project admin and main developer.
