I'm a user of debian unstable on the desktop.I'm glad to see this, I was slightly confused that one day i saw this package removed, checked bug reports and didn't find anything reasonable about the 'why'. The reason why I tried this one at all was that gentoo describes it as fastest. Reason I kept it was that I liked the default log file naming scheme of metalog better than default syslog style. I guess that behaviour could be replicated with syslog(-ng), but I don't really want to bother doing that.
