Hmmm, this is the bug where the removal was requested, but there are
no technical reasons why metalog should be removed; only the fact that
it was not maintained. Since the latter has changed now: Martin, do
you see any reason why metalog shouldn't be uploaded again? 

IMHO metalog is a nice supplement: for large and complex system you
use syslog-ng, for simple environments you take metalog, which is much
easier to configure. Besides the standard sysklogd (_this_ is the one
which should be removed because of obsolescence :-) ), there are no
more loggers in Debian, so I think it is worth the effort.

If metalog can be uploaded again, we should reopen all bugs agains
it, right? The new version fixes most of them anyway, but it was nice
to let users know that the removal was not the final "solution".
