Kbirthday is a kicker-applet that reminds you of birthdays and
anniversaries from your KDE addressbook.
It uses the KDE addressbook API to access the addressbook data. So you can
use your favourite addressbook frontend to manage your friends addresses,
birthdays and anniversaries.

Features:
- use of the KDE addressbook API, so you can use your favourite
addressbook frontend to manage the addressbook information;
- configurable time before an event when the notification is provided;
- an option to notify of pending and missed events on startup;
- highlighting of the most important events;
- shows the days remaining until events; and
- shows the age of the person having a birthday or the years of an
anniversary.

kalarm is in testing/unstable and obsoletes kbirthday by providing a 
proper superset of the functionality.
