Bug#238698: O: sterilize -- Secure (supposedly) file wipe utility.

Package: wnpp
Severity: normal

The current maintainer of sterilize, Janusz A. Urbanowicz
<alex@bofh.net.pl>, is apparently not active anymore. Therefore, I
orphan this package now. If you want to be the new maintainer, please
take it -- see http://www.debian.org/devel/wnpp/index.html#howto-o for
detailed instructions how to adopt a package properly.

Description: Secure (supposedly) file wipe utility.
Does a secure overwrite of given files or devices, so that not even
very expensive hardware probing can recover the data.
For the theory behind this, see "Secure Deletion of Data from Magnetic
and Solid-State Memory" by Peter Guttman.
 .
This program won't work as expected on filesystems with journal,
 like ext3 or reiserfs.
Enhances: gnupg

This package was not part of woody, so it should be removed before the
next release unless it's adopted.

Justification: RC bug ignored for >100 days, NMUs, not around
