Given this description (and the improved one too), I guess that this thing must just search out a list of all installed packages that use debconf, and present a list of them, also using debconf (not not? Maybe using its own UI, but then it is just a gtkdebconf reimplemnentation), then dpkg-reconfigure the one the user picks from the list. If that's all it does, I can probably roll it right into debconf, and would probably like to, as I have a few bug reports there requesting similar things. -- see shy jo
