Robin, can you shed any light on the python2.3 dependency or projections for a broader release of chandler?
They're using 2.3 eventhough it is alpha because it has better integration for the framework builds on OS X which is required to use GUI apps. Other than that I think that all the other components are the newest released versions, but they like having copies of the sources in their own source trees to make it easier to encorporate bug fixes and to customize the build process.
The current release is really just a developer preview of the architecture and the APIs so I don't think it makes sense to try and make Debian packages for it. If someone wants to look at the architecture or to start developing to the API then doing it in the full Chandler source tree probably makes the most sense at this time. Doing a build will "install" into the Chandler tree and won't touch the rest of the system.
