Description : development framework for real-time systems

>From the web page:

Xenomai is a development framework for real-time systems on
GNU/Linux which aims at being a foundation for a set of
real-time application interfaces. The available API
collection currently includes emulators mimicking APIs of
traditional RTOS such as VxWorks, pSOS+, and VRTXsa.
Xenomai defines an abstraction layer implemented as a
generic nanokernel which builds upon the deterministic
behaviour obtained from an underlying real-time control
layer. The nanokernel exports a set of real-time services
which can be used in turn to build any number of application
interfaces.

The Xenomai nanokernel gives the application interfaces the
real-time capabilities it inherits from the underlying
real-time control layer it runs onto. The nanokernel can be
plugged onto the Adeos layer, RTAI's RTHAL or the
LinuxThreads POSIX interface. The nanokernel can also run on
top of Xenomai's Minute Virtual Machine which allows tracing
the execution of real-time software at source code level in
a simulated environment, using a graphical RTOS-aware
debugger.
