No, docbookide has more than an embedded DTD. Just to be clear, a
"DTD" does not come with docbookide. Rather, it has within it's code
the logic of the DTD. Given that Norm Walsh wrote docbookide, I trust
him as an expert of docbook.

I need to learn more about psgml, then, since I didn't see those on my
brief, initial testing. OTOH, the only SGML documents that I create
are docbook documents.

No, the logic processes abbreviations and transformed the input into
full names.

Also, docbookide includes automatic insertion of subfields, such as
firstname,lastname fields when starting an author field, or title
fields when starting a section field.
