This project provides a proxy that allows telnet/tcp connections to be
made to serial ports on a machine.
This looks like a program that will allow cisco-like "reverse
telnet" connections to devices that can be configured via serial. I
hope it will be a possible replacement for minicom in these tasks.
Didn't try it yet because I am offline on vacation.
