Bug#111182: RFP: imaze -- iMaze is a Internet-adapted clone of the Atari ST MidiMaze multiplayer game
Package: wnpp
Version: N/A; reported 2001-09-04
Severity: wishlist
This game clones the Atari ST MidiMaze II multiplayer game. Whereas the
original game used the Atari's MIDI ports for connecting up to 16 players,
iMaze has adapted the same game idea for the Internet, using an iMaze server
and clients or bots ("ninjas") connecting to it. The iMaze home page is at
http://home.tu-clausthal.de/student/iMaze/ and the sources can be found
from ftp://ftp.tu-clausthal.de/pub/misc/games/imaze/ (latest version 1.3). The
game requires either xview or Motif for the widgets. Note that in order to
compile successfully on a Debian system, the option -DDONT_DECLARE_ERRLIST
must be set in the Makefile. The FTP site also has different sound sets for
the game as well as a contributed map generator and bot. The license grants
"permission to any individual or institution to use or copy iMaze so long that
it is not sold for profit and that this copyright notice is retained. The
source code of iMaze may ONLY be distributed in its original, unmodified
state." Thus, the game would probably not qualify under main, due to the
"not sold for profit" clause.
