Description: Open Source Private Branch Exchange (PBX)
Asterisk is an Open Source Private Branch Exchange (PBX)
and general telephony toolkit which runs on the Linux
operating system. It is, fundamentally, a kind of middleware,
between Internet and telephony channels, like (Voice over IP,
Voice over Frame Relay, etc.) and telephony and Internet
applications (like voicemail, phone directories, call parking,
calling cards, etc). Asterisk provides a number of API's that
make its functionality. For more information on the API's,
click on "Architecture" on the left hand side.
 .
For more information on Asterisk PBX visit the homepage at
 http://www.asteriskpbx.com/ .

[*] Justification: the maintainer currently has 17 open RC bugs (not
counting those fixed in NMUs). Several NMUs were done, at least two
packages (pwlib, usbview) have already been hihacked, the maintainer
does not respond to mails.
