Package: winetricks
Severity: wishlist

Dear Maintainer,

While it's a third-party repo and they should perhaps declare a provides on 'wine', even though it's installed in /opt, it would be very useful to have winetricks installed with wine-staging from winehq's repo.

Thanks!

To satisfy the winetricks dependency on wine you may either

- install one of the debian.org Wine packages or
- the mentioned winehq-staging package, or
- create a dummy wine package with equivs.

The latter is described in /usr/share/doc/winetricks/README.Debian.

There you'll also find how to use Winetricks with non-default Wine
versions (i.e. if you don't have the wine binary in your PATH):

  export WINE=/opt/wine-staging/bin/wineserver
  export WINESERVER=/opt/wine-staging/bin/wineserver

Imo simply putting wine-staging in winetricks' dependencies would be
wrong, since you'd still have to set the variables then. So I don't
think we should change anything about the winetricks packaging, thus
closing this.

Feel free to reopen and/or suggest a better documentation.
