Package: wine Version: 1.6.2-6 Severity: important User: debian-qa@lists.debian.org Usertags: piuparts Hi, during a test with piuparts I noticed your package fails to upgrade from 'squeeze' to 'wheezy' to 'jessie'. It installed fine in 'squeeze', but the upgrade to 'wheezy' with foreign architecture i386 enabled did not actually update wine, so the squeeze version stayed installed. Thereafter the upgrade to 'jessie' failed because it tries to overwrite other packages files without declaring a Breaks+Replaces relation. See policy 7.6 at http://www.debian.org/doc/debian-policy/ch-relationships.html#s-replaces >From the attached log (scroll to the bottom...): Preparing to replace wine 1.0.1-3.1 (using .../wine_1.6.2-6_amd64.deb) ... Unpacking replacement wine ... Replacing files in old package wine-bin ... Replacing files in old package libwine ... dpkg: error processing /var/cache/apt/archives/wine_1.6.2-6_amd64.deb (--unpack): trying to overwrite '/usr/share/man/man1/winedbg.1.gz', which is also in package wine-utils 1.0.1-3.1 Errors were encountered while processing: /var/cache/apt/archives/wine_1.6.2-6_amd64.deb According to the changelog, the wine-utils was removed in 1.1.25-1, so add Breaks+Replaces: wine-utils (<< 1.1.25-1) I noticed that wine has some Replaces, but no Breaks. Please add all the Replaces entries also as Breaks. Without corresponding Breaks you allow for some partial up/downgrade paths that should not be valid. cheers, Andreas
