ok. this bug is *very* easy to reproduce. it happens on my desktop
machine, and on my laptop too.

I use sawfish on both machines.

this is a fresh wine install in sarge. just installed wine, ran
winesetup, and clicked finish. no configuration tweaks at all.

to get this bug you have to follow:

1. $ wine notepad
2. switch desktop in sawfish to another one. [*]
3. switch desktop back, to where notepad window was.
4. notepad window is gone! it is not shown on task list[**], not in window
list[***], not anywhere else. it is impossible to switch to notepad!

the problem happens with all programs I tried to run under wine
(notepad, acad, and writen by myself small windows app)

[*] or to be more correct with sawfish terminology: "viewport"
(commonly referred as desktop). That is because sawfish uses two
different kind of desktops: workspaces and viewports.

in my .sawfishrc there are following lines:

  (define-special-variable viewport-dimensions '(3 . 2)
    "Size of each virtual workspace.")

it means that I have 6 viewports, ordered in 3x2.

[**] that is rox task list, shown on rox-panel, because I'm using rox :)

[***] window list in sawfish, shown in sawfish menu. (binded
to middle-click by default)

I don't know if this bug is sawfish specific, or happens with all
windowmanagers, currently I'd be hard for me to check it with other windowmanagers, as I have sawfish on all my machines.

Definitely it must be something about wine communicating with
windowmanager. afaik sawfish takes great care to conform to the
windowmanager standards, thus I report this bug to wine.
