I'll just paste from the most recent README.Debian, I guess:
WineHQ provides Debian packages at http://www.winehq.org/site/download-deb, built by Scott Ritchie of Ubuntu, however these are currently different from the official Debian packages, notably by not splitting the package like the official Debian packages do. Upgrading between these two packaging styles is not always smooth, so use them with that in mind, and do not file bugs to the Debian bug tracker about them.
