Line is no emulator ;o)



Hi

Would it be possible to run ELF binaries compiled for linux 
directly under Windows (like Wine¹ runs EXE files under Linux)?
The idea is:

 o Only very few packages would have to be recompiled. Maybe,
   the result would still fit on the official Debian GNU/Linux
   CD #1.

 o At the moment, Linux-CDs in magazines are only meant to be
   test-versions (mostly only CD #1). On the other hand, there
   are magazines that include any redistributable
   Windows-software. So, if Linux packages would run under
   Windows, the latter magazines would maybe always distribute
   the newest official Debian GNU/Linux set.

¹) BTW: I have problems to run Cygwin under Wine. Has anyone
   managed to do that?
