This links to a topic I've been mulling over...

MediaWiki uses Talk: pages instead of /Discussion pages, and it shows
a "Discussion" tab at the top-left of every page. We'll probably want to switch
to that model when we go to MediaWiki, which means getting rid of all the
existing Discussion links. Our basic choices are to do that after, during,
or before the migration.

Doing it after the migration is the obvious choice - start with a Discussion tab
at the top and a redundant link in the page, then remove links one-by-one.
But that gives a poor first impression, and misses our best opportunity
to teach editors about the new convention.

Doing it during the migration would be difficult. Even if we get everything
right first time, it will be another bit of mental load on people learning
a whole new wiki layout.

So how about we (I) convert all the existing Discussion links to #pragma's
before the migration? It should be less than a day's work (see initial
sketch of my process[0]), after which everyone can complain about that change
in isolation, then we convert the #pragma's to an empty template or something
during the migration, and people just have to learn the Discussion link moved
from the top-right to the top-left.
