Hi, Chris Seufert has been working with me, attempting to package PHP Documentor, but the pear install is running out of memory, as documented below by Chris. Some of the alternatives that emerged from his comments and the bug which he references are to: fix Pear upstream, patch php-pear in Debian, use ini_set or ini_alter, write our own script to parse package.xml and copy the files over, or forget package.xml and manually copy the files in debian/rules. As this is an issue which will potentially effect other PHP Pear packages as well, I wanted to get some feedback from the community on how best to resolve this situation. thanks, Charles ----- Forwarded message from Chris Seufert <seufert@gmail.com> ----- From: Chris Seufert <seufert@gmail.com> Subject: Re: Bug#206536: PHP Documentor now LGPL Date: Fri, 19 May 2006 14:56:05 +1000 To: Charles Fry <debian@frogcircus.org> The pear installer is running out of memory, i think due to the number of files in the phpDocumentor package. And the only real solution is to increase the MEMORY_LIMIT in php.ini. Not sure of a away around this.... see: http://pear.php.net/bugs/bug.php?id=1596 There is a bug report but no one seems interested in doing anything about it, judging by the PEAR installer code, it builds a list of files to copy, and phpdocumetnor has massive list to store. The only idea i have is running PHP with an alternative ini file, while installing, do you think this is acceptable? -Chris ----- End forwarded message ----- -- Five Hundred Thousand Men Use Burma-Shave http://burma-shave.org/jingles/1930/five
