FTR, we are cutting swag budget this year so don't expect anything fabcy, and we are being conservative in some other expenses such as conference dinner. But personally, would like to have a popular DebCamp. Hacking time spent with other fellows is as valuable as DebConf time.

Great!

In the last editions, water bottles and coffee cups were given away.

People can bring their own to the event, and it would not be necessary, for example, to make coffee cups and water bottles every year.

I'm not talking specific about France, but I feell there is some kind of thought "the debconf I'm organizing can't be smaller/simplier/modestier than the previous debconfs".

IMHO DebConf should produce profit to Debian.

DebConf produces profit, that we don't measure in dollars :-)

DebConf should be a time to exchange knowledge, increasing the proximity and knowledge of project members.

Obviously there is a financial cost to this, but the most important thing is to bring improvements to the project. (They are not always measurable financially - as mentioned)

May DCs continue to be spectacular!
