IMHO tag2upload does not drop integrity checks, for the simple reason that a maintainer who uses dgit today does not perform any such test.

I would like to at least know how many packages would benefit from such a change.
At minimum, all packages that already use dgit: https://browse.dgit.debian.org/ contains ~3000 repositories.
