According to m-w.com, "supercede" is an accepted alternate spelling, so I'm not too worried about that one. Also, it is the standard term used for the procedure.

http://www.m-w.com/cgi-bin/dictionary?book=Dictionary&va=replace gives what each (near) synonym of replace implies, and I think supersede is definitely the right word.

/me hopes this sub-thread does not grow, forcing the listmasters to create a new list, -anal.
