Thought it's for Linux viruses.

Samba? Isn't it old a bit already? Maybe CIFS.

OK. I will bit. Samba is the Linux implementation of the SMB / CIFS protocol. Since it started back in the day of SMB it got nick named samba and the name has stuck. Just link Linux is Linus Unix shorted. Samba fully implements CIFS and SMB2 the crazy system built into windows Vista.
