I have multiple GNOME Terminal windows open with multiple tabs each and don't want to remove or change its keybindings as they've become muscle memory! Xterm is perfect for this ad hoc use. I will often set it to be visible on the active workspace so it follows along as I surf the Web or read email while the radio activity I'm logging gets slow. With so many choice available, everyone builds a list of software that fits how they work and think.
