Another correspondent advised me to add

GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX_DEFAULT="processor.max_cstate=1 idle=nomwait"

This seems to have solved the problem. I have no idea what that does. I had been in contact with Intel Customer Support. The agent told me "that turns off some unused features" but he didn't know what those features were.

https://www.kernel.org/doc/html/latest/admin-guide/pm/cpuidle.html would seem to be the authoritative source on what those options do.

He told me to contact Intel again if the problem recurs, but it's been a week now with no crashes. I'm keeping my fingers crossed.
