The only mention of .cache I see in that page is $HOME/.cache but this
is not in a home directory.  Not even root's.  Unless at some point
root's $HOME was set to / instead of /root.

That said, I don't see any cause for alarm here.  It's not taking up
much space (being an empty directory), and you can easily remove it if
it bothers you.

For the record, I don't have a /.cache directory on my system, which
was installed as Bookworm but upgraded to Trixie.
