I'm looking for Anubis [0] for Debian Server. It appears Anubis was removed after Wheezy,[1] but I was not able to locate the reason why.

Perhaps it should be added to FAQ. Usually the reason why some package has been removed from Debian repositories may be found at
<https://tracker.debian.org/>.

In this particular case see <https://tracker.debian.org/pkg/anubis>.
The "Removed... from unstable" link leads to
<https://tracker.debian.org/news/579815/removed-411dfsg1-4-from-unstable/>
So it was an action in response to the bug #765517

<https://bugs.debian.org/765517>
"RM: anubis; blocking removal of guile-1.8 (#745989)"
According to dak, anubis is blocking this removal, and the last non-NMU
was in 2009.

The debian/control file in source trees contains package description:

<https://sources.debian.org/src/anubis/4.1.1%2Bdfsg1-3.1/debian/control>
Description: an SMTP message submission daemon

So it is really another project.

P.S. I admit I can not suggest a better approach to protect servers against aggressive crawlers, but I still do not like this kind of measures that require JS to be enabled in browsers.
