Re: Entering blind passwords at the CLI

Am 23. Aug, 2025 schwätzte Tom Browder so:

moin moin,

In my shaky old age I am having problems entering ****** passwords in a
shell terminal when I can’t see what I’m typing. I think I used to be able
to copy/paste with vi, but no luck in my attempt today.

If you can copy/paste, then you should be able to use a password manager
such as keepassxc.

When pasting to a terminal I've found I now need <shift>-<ctrl>-v rather
than just <ctrl>-v.

The same when copying, I now need <shift>-<ctrl>-c rather than just
<ctrl>-c.

Using keepassxc I can generally still middle-click to paste unless I'm
crossing x2go sessions.

ciao,

der.hans

Thanks for any help.

Best regards,

-Tom
