Laptop charge thresholds

My Dell 5320 laptop ignore its battery charge thresholds. It charges
above the stop threshold and continues charging until I disconnect AC
power.

In bookworm, I tried the smbios-battery-ctl command included in the
smbios-utils package. In trixie, smbios-utils has been removed but tlp
claims to do charge thresholds. From the output from 'tlp-stat -b',

   Plugin: dell
   Supported features: charge thresholds
   Driver usage:
   * natacpi (dell_laptop) = active (charge thresholds)
   Parameter value ranges:
   * START_CHARGE_THRESH_BAT0/1:  50..95(default)
   * STOP_CHARGE_THRESH_BAT0/1:   55..100(default)

Yesterday I used fwupdmgr to update the laptop's firmware. It
succeeded but made no difference.

In the laptop's UEFI, 'Battery Configuration' is set to 'Custom' and
shows thresholds that are reported by tlp. If I change the thresholds
in the UEFI, tlp reports the new numbers. Likewise, if I change the
thresholds with tlp, the UEFI shows the new numbers.

It shows every sign of working except that it ignore whatever numbers
I set and keeps on charging. Any help welcome.
