FYI: Cross-grading (e.g. i386 --> amd64) wiki information substantially updated.
FYI: I've quite substantially updated the information on the
Cross-grading (e.g. i386 --> amd64) wiki page:
https://wiki.debian.org/CrossGrading
Per Trixie release notes (presently may still be in not quite final
released form yet):
> Users running i386 systems should not upgrade to trixie. Instead,
> Debian recommends either reinstalling them as amd64, where possible,
> or retiring the hardware. Cross-grading without a reinstall is a
> technically possible, but risky, alternative.
And that mention of Cross-grading within, includes link to the
above mentioned wiki page.
https://www.debian.org/releases/trixie/release-notes/issues.en.html#i386-reduced-support
Most notable improvements on the wiki page:
o Included much detail and example using crossgrader
o More detailed more current example on not using crossgrader
o Generally better organized, more detail, lots of cleanup and fixes,
validated against more current testing, etc.
Anyway, with the impending Trixie release, and waning i386 support,
I thought it important to well update that wiki page, as there may be
many that have been continuing to use i386 installations that
may be considering or wanting to try cross-grading as part of their
migration strategy regarding supported architecture, whether that's
rather soon, or as Debian 12 Bookworm i386 approaches falling / falls
from main support, or perhaps likewise later, LTS, or ELTS support.

If one has specific questions,
here (debian-user@lists.debian.org) may be among
appropriate places to ask.
If something ought be covered on the wiki page, but isn't (yet),
might want to note such as a comment in the wiki page source
(present syntax for that mostly uses a leading "## "). One may also
want to review existing comments in the wiki source, notably in case
it's already a planned/intended "TODO" item or the like, or the comments
may already include how/why something is/isn't covered,
or more general intent, etc.
Hopefully it continues to serve as a rather / quite useful document,
without getting excessively huge (far more detailed much longer examples
are possible, but should probably be covered by links to elsewhere or
attachments, and not directly on the wiki page itself). In fact some
such links already exist on that page, or closely related wiki page(s).
