KDE (plasma6) versions 6.3.X should be abonadoned in trixie but 6.4.X added
Dear list,
due to some issue on my notebook with debian/trixe, I contacted the KDE
developers.
They told me, that there will be no more work on plasma6 version 6.3.X, as all
work is now at version 6.4.X.
This means, debian/trixie is starting with libs and packages, where bugs are
no more fixed, or toi say; The next oficial release is starting with antiquated
software, which will obviously not fixed at bugs.
In my personal eyes this is not a good idea and will deminish the until today
well known quality of debian.
Yes, I know the politics of debian, but shouldn`t we not abandon 6.3 packages
of plasma and add 6.4 versions instead, even when it means, the official release
of trixie will be later?
Dunno how other people had experience with trixie, but mine was (and this the
first time since over 20 years!), worst for the first time.
Plasma6 almost not usable, X is often freezing and hanging and some minor
issues.
Please understand, I do not want to mourne, as I know things always can go
wrong, but this time it is really hard stuff.
So, my suggestion, let us add and wait for plasma 6.4 and use well working
software (I apologize here, if I did not find the correct and polite English
idioms, I do not want blame anyone!)
I will be hapy to read your sight of this.
Best regards
Hans
